SUMMARY:Substance Use Prevention
DESCRIPTION:SAPST is a 37 hour course (32 live\, 5 online) providing a broad orientation to the field of substance use prevention. The modules cover the evidence-based process of the Strategic Prevention Framework: assessment\, capacity building\, prevention planning\, implementation\, evaluation\, sustainability\, and cultural competence. This training meets the criteria for the Missouri Prevention Specialist credential requirement. \n \nAnanda Sallman\, MPS\, CPS | Community Prevention Specialist.\nAnanda Sallman is in her third year serving as a Prevention Specialist with First Call. She previously built a career in broadcast communications but found purpose in working with at-risk youth while serving in her daughters’ school during the pandemic. Drawing from her own lived experiences with addiction\, Ananda is dedicated to empowering young people with the skills and encouragement they need to thrive. In her role at First Call\, Ananda works directly with communities to foster youth mental well-being in environments of hope\, recovery\, and resilience. \n  \nSusan Depue Bradford\, Ph.D. | Research Associate Professor\, Missouri Institute of Mental Health\nSusan Depue Bradford has worked in prevention since 2006\, focusing on youth mental health and substance use. She enjoys collaborating with communities across Missouri to support local efforts. With a strong interest in research and evaluation\, Susan uses survey data and local insights to inform programming and policy. Her work emphasizes practical application of data to improve outcomes.
