Service Description

9am-5pm (1hr lunch provided by First Call) Facilitated by Shelby Krech, MPS and Bryce Bradford, MPS Youth Mental Health First Aid teaches you how to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental health and substance use challenges among children and adolescents ages 12-18. Shelby Krech, MPS, has found a perfect marriage between her lived experience with substance use disorder and passion for social services in the prevention team at First Call. She believes that the greatest tool for prevention and recovery is showing up authentically and empathetically for those seeking support of any nature, whether it be the first time or a continued effort. Shelby is a certified Prevention Specialist, Associate Alcohol Drug Counselor I, Peer Specialist, and Harm Reduction Specialist in the state of Missouri. Bryce Bradford, MPS, was born and raised in Kansas City. Upon graduating from the University of Central Missouri in 2017, Bryce began working with community organizations within the eastside of Kansas City, before coming to First Call. In 2020 Bryce joined the First Call team and began working on the Partnerships for Success Grant. As a person who has had family and friends who have both been impacted by substance use, Bryce found a passion in supporting prevention efforts especially geared toward youth in our area. Bryce has been working at First Call in the prevention department for 2 years, and is a Certified Prevention Specialist.
